BTS draws 70,000 fans to debut Madrid concert at Metropolitano stadium

South Korean pop group BTS opened the European leg of their world tour with two consecutive shows on 26‑27 June 2026 at Madrid’s Metropolitano stadium. Each night attracted roughly 70,000 spectators of varied ages and nationalities, creating what fans called a “purple ocean” – a reference to the group’s signature colour.

The production featured a 360‑degree stage, synchronized light‑stick choreography, fire, large screens and elaborate costumes. Members displayed new hairstyles, such as V’s blonde fringe and Jin’s chest‑exposing jacket, which sparked lively commentary on social media. BTS praised the Spanish audience, stating that the Madrid (along with the Mexico City) concert was among the best of the tour.

The concerts marked BTS’s first performances in Spain since the pandemic‑related cancellation of a planned show, and were hailed by fans as a historic moment for K‑pop in the country.
