BTS's 'ARIRANG' album shatters streaming records and fuels global fandom

South Korean boy band BTS released the studio album ARIRANG in 2026, quickly amassing more than 3.8 billion streams on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music in its first eight weeks. The record sold over 810,000 units in the United States, debuting at No. 1, while the lead single “SWIM” surpassed 500 million streams. Every track on the 14‑song album recorded at least 100 million streams, with “Body to Body” and “Hooligan” each exceeding 200 million.

Industry data shows heightened fan engagement, with overall consumer involvement rising to 26 % and a notable increase in strong‑affinity and superfans. BTS’s reach now includes new demographic groups, such as hip‑hop‑oriented listeners and a 7 % Hispanic/Latino awareness rate.

The group’s earlier 2020 Korean‑language album BE also achieved historic milestones, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 242,000 album‑equivalent units, selling nearly four million pure copies worldwide, and delivering the single “Life Goes On,” the first Korean‑language track to top the Hot 100. Both releases underline BTS’s sustained global commercial impact and their ability to attract diverse audiences across multiple markets.
