Bubble Bobble franchise receives new releases and updates

The Bubble Bobble franchise is receiving new releases and updates to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Hamster has announced that the classic 1988 title, Bubble Bobble, will launch as part of the Console Archives series on Nintendo Switch on August 26. This digital release, priced at $7.99, includes modern features such as customizable button layouts, rapid-fire settings, multiple save points, and CRT-style visual filters.

Additionally, Arc System Works and Taito have released a major free update for Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons titled “Boosted.” Available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam, the update introduces new bonus stages, items, and progression adjustments. Key features include the Bob’s Room mechanic, which allows players to access bonus destinations like the Item Room or Combo Room. The update also incorporates an adapted version of the 1997 home edition of Bubble Symphony.
