Bubble Bobble franchise 40th anniversary releases

Overview

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Bubble Bobble franchise, several new releases and updates have been announced.

Taito and Arc System Works released the ‘Boosted’ update for ‘Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons’ on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC. This free expansion includes new features such as the ‘Item Room’, the ‘Castle’ giant level, and various new items. It also features a port of the 1997 home console version of ‘Bubble Symphony’.

Additionally, Hamster announced that the original 1988 ‘Bubble Bobble’ title will launch as part of the Console Archives series on Nintendo Switch. This digital release will include modern features such as customizable button layouts, rapid-fire settings, multiple save points, and CRT-style visual filters.
