Bucharest celebrates 567th anniversary with cultural events
Bucharest is celebrating its 567th anniversary, marking the date of its first documentary mention in a 1459 charter issued by Vlad Țepeș. The city is hosting various cultural events, including the iMapp Bucharest video-mapping competition at the Palace of the Parliament, concerts, and guided tours of the City Hall.
In a separate diplomatic context, President Nicușor Dan is attending the 81st UN General Assembly in New York. During the summit, he addressed the Romanian diaspora in Chicago, acknowledging that the state has sometimes failed to meet expectations and emphasizing the need for honesty and respect to rebuild trust with citizens living abroad.
U.S. Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg also issued a message of congratulations to the capital, highlighting the strong bilateral partnership and the importance of preserving Romanian cultural heritage, such as the Stavropoleos Monastery.
