Bucharest conference addresses AI regulation and economic impact

A conference titled ‘Technological Revolution and Artificial Intelligence Regulation: Benefits, Opportunities, Risks’ was held in Bucharest on October 14–15, 2026. The event brought together over 120 representatives from European and national institutions, regulatory authorities, the judiciary, academia, and the business community.

Organized by the University of Bucharest Faculty of Law in partnership with the European Commission Representation in Romania, Think Tank 360, Women in Data Science Romania, and the Center for Strategic Analysis, the discussions focused on the necessity of a clear and predictable regulatory framework. Participants emphasized that for the AI Act to be effective, legislative frameworks must connect with corporate realities, institutional capacity, and investments in technology and skills.

Experts highlighted that Romania possesses the specialists and researchers necessary to contribute to AI development. Key priorities for successful implementation include infrastructure, data access, and ensuring AI is used responsibly in administration and public services while maintaining human control.
