Bucharest Mayor George Tuță Approves 7 Million‑Euro School Container Scheme and New Greenfield Road
Sector 1 Mayor George Tuță announced a €7 million contract to place modular containers as temporary classrooms for School 178 while the building undergoes reinforcement. The mayor presented the solution as necessary for safety and continuity of education, though critics question the high cost for a short‑term measure.
Tuță also signed the authorization for a new 217‑metre, 7‑metre‑wide road in the Greenfield neighbourhood, providing a second access route to DN1 and the city ring road without using the forest road through Băneasa. The road, funded entirely by the developer, includes sidewalks, turning lanes and a railway crossing. The mayor said no further construction will be permitted until the three required access routes are completed, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion for the district’s 7,000 residents.
