Bucharest Metro Line 6: TBM reaches Expoziției station

Construction of Bucharest's Metro Line 6 has reached a new milestone as the tunnel boring machine (TBM) ‘Sfânta Maria’ arrived at the future Expoziției station. This development is part of the southern section of the new line, which aims to connect the capital's metro network directly to Henri Coandă International Airport.

To date, the ‘Sfânta Maria’ TBM has excavated approximately 3.67 kilometers of the 6.6 kilometers required to reach the 1 Mai station, installing 2,445 tunnel rings in the process. A second machine, TBM ‘Sfânta Ana’, is also working on the same section and has approximately 855 meters remaining before it reaches the Expoziției station.

On the northern section of the line, between Tokyo station and the airport, equipment is being moved to the Brussels station for assembly and subsequent underground launch. Progress on the southern section's supporting structures reached nearly 80% in September, while the northern section's structures were at approximately 35% completion.
