Budapest Déli Railway Station traffic disrupted by train derailment

Train traffic at Budapest Déli Railway Station has been significantly disrupted following the derailment of a shunting locomotive near the station's switch area. The incident, involving locomotive 460 023, resulted in several train sets being stranded on blocked tracks, specifically affecting the first five platforms.

As a result of the derailment, several services have been cancelled or modified. The Martonvásár Z30 and Százhalombatta S40 lines are not operating. Long-distance services, including Mecsek Intercity trains, are terminating at or departing from Budapest-Kelenföld instead of Déli station. Specific disruptions include the cancellation of the Tópart Intercity (IC842) to Nagykanizsa, with replacement bus services being organized for affected passengers.

To assist commuters, train tickets are being accepted on several BKK services, including the M2 and M4 metro lines, specific bus lines (140, 140A, 139), and various tram lines (17, 56, 56A, 61) during the period of disruption. Normal scheduled traffic is expected to resume by 14:00.
