Budapest hospital treats child after fire at Kisbér social care home
A four-year-old girl is in critical condition at the Bethesda Children's Hospital in Budapest following a severe fire at a transitional family home in Kisbér. The incident was caused by a short circuit in an electrical outlet in the room where the child was sleeping.
The child suffered extensive burns to her face, neck, arms, abdomen, and knees. She has already undergone two surgeries to replace burned skin tissue and remains on a ventilator under sedation. Her father, Imre Bencze, reported that while the surgeries were successful, the child remains in life-threatening condition and faces a long recovery.
The fire occurred around midnight while the child was under the supervision of a staff member. The father was notified of the incident the following day.
