Budapest police raid detains 63 people in citywide traffic and safety crackdown

A large-scale police operation in Budapest's District VI (Terézváros) targeted traffic safety and public order violations. Officers focused on drunk driving, including intoxicated electric‑scooter riders, illegal use of bus lanes, red‑light running and noisy, illegally modified vehicles. Among those stopped was a driver of a modified Nissan GT‑R that breached several traffic rules.

During the second week of the crackdown, police reported that 2,907 people were checked, 63 were arrested and 56 were summoned for further action. Authorities issued 81 on‑site fines, filed 36 administrative complaints and 35 criminal complaints, and applied additional municipal penalties for public drinking, littering and possession of dangerous devices.
