Budapest Police Record 33 Arrests in First Week of Citywide Security Sweep

Budapest's police chief announced that a 30‑day intensified public‑safety operation began earlier this month across the capital. In the first week, more than 400 officers conducted targeted street checks at multiple locations, registering 712 residents, arresting 33 people and summoning another 33 for questioning. Six incidents prompted security measures, and officers issued 16 citation complaints and 40 on‑site fines.

The actions targeted garage‑related crimes, theft and drug offenses, as well as apprehending wanted individuals. The initiative was launched following reports from residents and coordination with district authorities, as stated by Prime Minister Magyar Péter and the Ministry of the Interior.
