Budapest Stock Exchange BUX index hits historic high

The Budapest Stock Exchange index, BUX, reached a historic peak on Monday, closing at 151,360.28 points, an increase of 1.82 percent.

In the foreign exchange market, the Hungarian forint showed mixed performance against major currencies. While the forint remained relatively stable compared to Friday levels, it has strengthened significantly against the euro, US dollar, and Swiss franc since the beginning of the year.

Market attention is currently focused on the upcoming interest rate decision by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank. This meeting may conclude a three-month period of interest rate cuts that began in June. Analysts suggest that the market has already priced in a potential 25 basis point cut, shifting investor focus toward the central bank's future policy direction.
