Budapest Stock Exchange opens with cautious trading

The Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) opened the week with cautious trading. The BUX index started the day at 150,787 points with relatively low turnover.

Individual stock performance showed mixed results: Mol saw an increase of 1.4 to 1.68 percent, while Magyar Telekom rose by approximately 0.6 to 1.04 percent. Conversely, OTP Bank and Richter experienced slight declines, dropping by 0.1 to 1.27 percent. 4iG also opened with a 1.6 percent decrease.

In broader developments, Mol received an extension from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to continue its NIS negotiations, with the permit extended until September 30. The Hungarian forint remained relatively stable against major currencies during early morning trading.
