Budapest Stock Index Edges Up as Forint Weakens Against Euro

The Budapest Stock Exchange’s BUX index opened Friday at 138,410.60 points, a modest rise of 4.73 points from Thursday’s close of 138,405.87. Thursday’s session had seen the index slip 0.36% after earlier gains.

In the foreign‑exchange market, the forint weakened in the morning: the euro rose to 350.57 HUF (from 349.79) and the dollar to 304.23 HUF (from 301.73). The euro‑dollar rate fell to 1.1522 from 1.1592. The Swiss franc also edged higher to 380.86 HUF.

Individual shares showed mixed moves. OTP Bank traded at 44,850 HUF, near a short‑term support level of 44,828 HUF and facing resistance around 46,280 HUF. Mol’s price fell to 3,746 HUF, while Magyar Telekom closed above its 2,736 HUF resistance level. Other stocks such as Richter saw limited activity around key support zones.
