Buena Vista Social Club musical to debut in Mexico City
The musical production of ‘Buena Vista Social Club’, which originated on Broadway, is preparing for its Mexican premiere at the Teatro Insurgentes starting November 12. The production features a live ensemble of musicians, dancers, and actors, and will be performed entirely in Spanish.
The cast includes Analy and Héctor Sandarti, who portray the legendary Cuban musicians Omara Portuondo and Compay Segundo, respectively. Other key performers include Coco Campo, Víctor Varona, and a younger ensemble featuring Zark, Mariana Dávila, Eric Rodríguez, and Luna Manzanares. The production aims to bring the history of Cuban bolero and son from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s to new generations through the stories of icons like Ibrahim Ferrer and Rubén González.
