Buenos Aires and Entre Ríos present divergent budget and infrastructure reports
The 2027 budget proposal for the City of Buenos Aires has been submitted to the Legislature, prioritizing public transport, infrastructure, and drainage works. Key allocations include the renewal of bus corridors, the expansion of the subway network (specifically Line E and the Premetro extension), and improved station lighting. Significant funding is also directed toward sewage and flood prevention in southern neighborhoods, such as Villa Lugano and Villa Riachuelo, to replace aging infrastructure.
In the Entre Ríos province, specifically within the Uruguay Department, public works projects have seen massive cost increases. Data from the Provincial Road Directorate reveals that the Acceso Norte project in Concepción del Uruguay rose from an original contract of $2,275 million to a redetermined amount exceeding $20,000 million. While inflation is cited as a factor for these adjustments, the scale of the increases in various roadworks has prompted questions regarding the management of public funds.
