Buenos Aires Autodromo upgrades for 2027 MotoGP and potential Formula 1 race

The Autodromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires is being overhauled to host the 2027 MotoGP Grand Prix and to meet the standards for a future Formula 1 event. The redesign adds new curves, a logistics tunnel beneath the track, expanded pit facilities and a capacity to accommodate up to 150,000 spectators per day. Works, led by the city’s sports secretary Fabián "Chino" Turnes and overseen by Tilke Engineers & Architects, began in January and are slated for completion by year‑end.

Safety upgrades include the installation of FIA‑ and FIM‑approved debris fences supplied by Geobrugg Motorsport. City leader Jorge Macri highlighted the project's broader economic and tourism goals, citing examples such as Dubai’s multi‑event venue and plans for ancillary activities like a 15 km marathon. The upgrades aim to position Buenos Aires as a premier international motorsport destination and support its bid for the 2027 MotoGP and a possible future Formula 1 race.
