Buenos Aires celebrates Jorge Luis Borges legacy and digital library anniversary
Buenos Aires is celebrating the legacy of writer Jorge Luis Borges through various cultural initiatives. The city is hosting the ‘Jornadas Borges: un escritor universal’, an event organized by the Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation and the Buenos Aires government. Running from August 18 to August 25, the program includes conferences, workshops, book presentations, guided tours, and cinema screenings at various cultural venues, including Palacio Libertad.
Coinciding with these celebrations is the second anniversary of the Jorge Luis Borges Digital Public Library, established on August 24, 2024. The digital platform has grown to include over 45,000 members and a catalog of more than 3,000 titles, facilitating free access to ebooks and audiobooks. Popular titles among users include works by Han Kang, Eduardo Sacheri, and various classics by Borges himself, such as ‘Ficciones’ and ‘El Aleph’.
