Buenos Aires Culture Ministry launches documentary series on historic cafés

The Buenos Aires City Ministry of Culture will present the documentary series "La Ruta de Los Notables" on Tuesday, 4 August, at 17:00 in the Salón Dorado of the Casa de la Cultura (Av. de Mayo 575). The series, produced by the Asociación de Hoteles Restaurantes Confiterías y Cafés (AHRCC) through the Cámara de Bares and sponsored by Fundación Santander, is directed by Samir Bitary with general production by Manuel Ernesto Sierra. It showcases a selection of the city’s most emblematic cafés, including La Poesía, El Federal, Confitería La Ideal, Café de García, Petit Colón, Café Cortázar, Almacén y Bar Lavalle, Margot, La Ópera, Hipopótamo and La Giralda, highlighting their histories and cultural significance.

During the same ceremony, diplomas will be awarded to twelve Bares Notables that were added to the official catalogue by the Comisión de Protección y Promoción de los Cafés, Bares, Billares. The honored establishments are El Portuario, Josephina’s Café, Vía 71, Confitería El Greco, Bar Conde, La Escuela, La Orquídea, Plaza Café, Café Rivas, La Ópera, Boca a Boca and Café Cortázar.
