Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof holds flag loyalty ceremony amid provincial fiscal crunch

Governor Axel Kicillof visited the rural town of San Jorge in Buenos Aires Province, attending a ceremony where primary‑school students pledged loyalty to the national flag. The event featured local officials and included the signing of a school‑equipment agreement under the Puentes programme, providing computers, printers, microscopes and robotics kits, as well as the inauguration of a new municipal slaughterhouse and the delivery of a road for waste management.

At the same time, Kicillof warned that the province is under severe financial pressure because the national government led by President Javier Milei has withheld funds owed to Buenos Aires Province. The dispute, already before the Supreme Court, concerns resources linked to ANSES and other transfers, affecting salaries, public services and provincial contracts. Kicillof said the province must explore alternatives such as external financing, investment agreements and even a provincial currency to avert a deeper economic and political crisis.
