Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof Opens V Congress on Equality Policies

Governor Axel Kicillof of Buenos Aires Province, together with Women and Diversity Minister Estela Díaz, inaugurated the V Congreso “Políticas para la Igualdad: producir, trabajar y cuidar” at the Faculty of Psychology, Universidad Nacional de La Plata. The three‑day event gathered officials and social leaders from more than 70 municipal districts of the province and hosted representatives from Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Peru.

Kicillof accused the national government of dismantling gender‑equality measures, saying “while the national government launches a permanent attack on women, it eradicated eight of ten policies aimed at reducing the gender gap.” He highlighted provincial initiatives such as the expansion of the Línea 144 hotline and coordinated assistance for victims of gender‑based violence, stressing that “we respond to Milei not only with words but with concrete care tools.”

Díaz warned that the national administration is rolling back labor and gender rights and described the congress as a “federal and Latin‑American trench” to defend gender policies at the highest level of governance.
