Buenos Aires hosts diverse tango festivals and workshops

Buenos Aires is hosting several significant tango-related cultural events this August. The first edition of the ‘Encuentro de Tangos Desviados’ will take place from August 14 to 17. This self-managed initiative features workshops, live music, and performances designed to explore tango through queer, transfeminist, anti-racist, and intersectional perspectives, challenging traditional practices.

Additionally, the Tango BA Festival and World Championship will run from August 19 to September 2. Organized by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Culture, the festival includes concerts, dance shows, and the World Dance Championship finals. Specific activities in the Abasto area include a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Centro Educativo del Tango de Buenos Aires (CETBA) on August 22, featuring orchestral performances and dance showcases.
