Buenos Aires implements infrastructure works to mitigate climate risks

Authorities in the Buenos Aires region are advancing various infrastructure projects to improve urban drainage and road connectivity in response to adverse weather and the El Niño phenomenon.

In the City of Buenos Aires, the government is implementing seven new pluvial infrastructure works to optimize the urban drainage system. These measures include the dredging of the Medrano stream in Núñez, which is expected to benefit 170,000 residents. Additional works involving the expansion and repair of conduits will take place in neighborhoods such as Monserrat, Villa Devoto, Barracas, Saavedra, and Villa Lugano.

In the Almirante Brown municipality, road works are continuing despite poor weather conditions. These include concrete patching in Longchamps, Burzaco, Claypole, and Rafael Calzada. Furthermore, the municipality is collaborating with the Province of Buenos Aires Highway Directorate on the final stage of renewing Provincial Route 4. This project involves constructing collectors, hydraulic works, and installing LED lighting across a 14-kilometer corridor to improve safety and connectivity for over 120,000 daily vehicles.
