Buenos Aires launches tender for cafe and shop in Recoleta Cemetery vault
The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has launched a public tender to grant a five-year concession for a vault located within the Recoleta Cemetery. The project aims to transform the 24.54-square-meter unoccupied space into a commercial area offering specialty coffee, food and beverage services, a gift shop, and nighttime tourist tours.
The vault is situated in Section 17, near the Junín Street entrance, surrounded by the tombs of historical Argentine figures such as Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and Bartolomé Mitre. The administration has set a base monthly fee of $1.6 million pesos for the concession. Additionally, bidders must propose a royalty of at least 20% of the gross income generated from the nighttime tourism circuits.
According to official documentation, the initiative is part of a broader plan to provide complementary services to visitors of the historic site. The tender process is scheduled to open for bids through the Buenos Aires Compras portal.
