Buenos Aires Legislature declares documentary series of cultural interest
The Buenos Aires Legislature has declared the documentary series ‘1976. Ecos de la Memoria’ to be of cultural interest. Produced by Grupo Octubre and created by Tristán Bauer, Daniel Filmus, and Carolina Scaglione, the four-part series premiered on Canal 9.
The documentary explores the period of state terrorism during Argentina’s last military dictatorship, covering themes such as persecution, censorship, exile, and forced disappearances. It utilizes archival footage, testimonies from human rights defenders, and artificial intelligence reconstructions to examine both the mechanisms of repression and the various forms of resistance that emerged. The series aims to reflect on how these historical events continue to impact Argentine society today.
