Buenos Aires mayoral races heat up as Ferraresi, Posse launch campaigns

Former Avellaneda mayor Jorge Ferraresi resigned his municipal post to devote himself to a provincial governorship bid for the 2027 election. He staged his first campaign event in Tres de Febrero, aligning his messaging with Governor Axel Kicillof’s slogan and positioning himself as a potential successor in Buenos Aires Province.

Former San Isidro mayor Gustavo Posse confirmed he will run again for the city’s mayoralty. He emphasized rebuilding the radical (UCR) presence in the province, calling for municipal autonomy and rejecting any alliance with either Javier Milei’s libertarian bloc or the Kirchnerist peronists. Posse aims to present a strong radical alternative for the upcoming local elections.
