Buenos Aires Museum Launches 'FUEGUINOS' Photographic Exhibition

The City of Buenos Aires Ministry of Culture announced the opening of the photographic exhibition “FUEGUINOS. Imaginarios visuales de las tierras australes,” which showcases 19th‑ and 20th‑century photographs of Tierra del Fuego taken by explorers, scientists and missionaries. The inauguration will take place on Friday, 7 August, at 12:00 p.m. in the Palacio Noel building of the Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández Blanco, with the exhibit running until 16 November.

The show, backed by the Cultural Sponsorship program and Banco Santander, aims to critically reassess visual records of the region’s Indigenous peoples and the impact of historic contacts, offering visitors insight into the scientific, mission and expedition narratives that shaped the southernmost part of the continent.
