Tierra del Fuego photography exhibitions

In mid‑July 2026 the Municipality of Ushuaia announced a call for entries to the “Vestigios” photography exhibition, part of the FRESCA cultural cycle. The show, slated for 28 August at the historic Antigua Casa Beban, invites artists to explore remnants in bodies, territories, objects and memory, with submissions accepted until 25 July.

Later in July, Buenos Aires’ Ministry of Culture opened the “FUEGUINOS. Imaginarios visuales de las tierras australes” exhibition at the Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández Blanco. Running from 7 August to 16 November, the exhibit presents 19th‑ and 20th‑century photographs of Tierra del Fuego taken by explorers, scientists and missionaries, aiming to reassess historic visual records of the region’s Indigenous peoples and the legacy of scientific and missionary expeditions.

Together, these events illustrate an ongoing cultural effort in Argentina to showcase and critically examine the visual heritage of the southernmost continent, linking contemporary artistic interpretations with historic documentary photography.
