Buenos Aires province and Tres Arroyos poultry firm face stalled labor talks

The government of Argentina's Buenos Aires province, led by Governor Axel Kicillof, convened a new meeting with state and teaching unions to resume collective salary bargaining. Earlier agreements granted a 1.5% raise in February, a 5% increase in March and a 2.5% rise in April, and officials were considering a further increase for June, though unions say they have not been contacted recently and the province may postpone that step to July.

In the private sector, the poultry company Granja Tres Arroyos in Concepción del Uruguay remains locked in a labor conflict. After a recent session at the Ministry of Labor, parties agreed to an interim meeting with no set date. About a thousand workers have not received wages for April and May, and the firm, still closed, cites export difficulties and union measures as causes. The municipal council has allocated emergency assistance for the most affected employees while the owners study a phased reopening of the plant.
