Argentina's 2025 Aprender assessment reveals nationwide gains in language and math

The national Aprender 2025 evaluation of sixth‑grade students showed significant improvements in both language and mathematics across Argentina. In the Province of Buenos Aires, 77.4% of pupils reached satisfactory or advanced levels in language (up 10.2 points) and 56.3% in math (up 4.7 points), outperforming the national average. Similar gains were reported in Córdoba, where 82.4% met expected language standards and 64.3% in math, and in the City of Buenos Aires, with 88.1% achieving satisfactory or advanced language results and 74.5% in math. Salta also recorded progress, posting a 74.5% satisfactory rate in language and a modest 0.8‑point rise in mathematics. Nationally, the share of students with satisfactory or advanced performance rose from 66.4% to 76.9% in language and from 51.5% to 55.0% in math. Officials attributed the advances to post‑pandemic policies such as school re‑engagement programs, increased textbook distribution, teacher hiring, infrastructure upgrades, and targeted literacy and math initiatives. As one analyst noted, "La mejora en Lengua que muestra Aprender 2025 respecto de la medición de 2023 es la primera evidencia concreta del Compromiso por la Alfabetización". The government plans to continue these efforts, including the Fortalecimiento del Tramo de Inicio Acompañado (FoTIA) program for secondary education.
