Buenos Aires racetrack prepares to host MotoGP and Formula 1

The Buenos Aires racetrack is undergoing significant renovations to host international motor racing competitions again. The circuit, now officially named the ‘Fangio Circuit’ in honor of Juan Manuel Fangio, is being prepared to host MotoGP in April 2027 and is also being designed to accommodate Formula 1.

Construction at the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez is approximately 60% complete. Key developments include the completion of the box building structure, control tower, and paddock. Paving for service streets has begun, and the track surface is 98% leveled, with asphalt testing expected shortly. The project, managed by Autopistas Urbanas (AUSA) and designed by Tilke Engineers & Architects, includes a new perimeter fence made of rigid concrete.

The return of MotoGP to the city, which has not hosted the event since 1999, is expected to have an economic impact of approximately $150 million. This influx is anticipated to boost tourism and create jobs in the hospitality, gastronomy, transport, and service sectors, while supporting urban development in the southern part of the city.
