Buenos Aires reforms public works procurement as city delays Line F subway tender

The government of Buenos Aires Province issued decree 623/2026 to amend the regulation of the Public Works Law, aiming to accelerate contracting, clarify execution rules and give contractors greater predictability. Key changes limit the Public Works Council to a purely technical validation of projects and allow direct contracts for works whose official budget does not exceed a value tied to a unit price per square metre.

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires postponed the opening of bids for the future Line F subway to 10 September 2026, extending the schedule for public tender No. 10241‑0094‑LPU25 that will cover engineering, construction and equipment of the new line.
