Buenos Aires removes nearly 500 illegal disabled parking spaces

The City of Buenos Aires has been auditing parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities. By mid‑year it had taken down 471 illegal spots, including 44 in the Palermo district. On one block of 3 de Febrero between Federico Lacroze and Teodoro García, four falsified spaces were discovered together.

Mayor Jorge Macri had ordered a 20‑day deadline for users of unauthorized or expired permits to regularise their status through the online Trámites a Distancia portal or by email. After the deadline, the city imposes fines, suspends drivers’ licences and removes the illegal signs, referring cases of fraud to the public prosecutor. The city maintains about 4,000 legitimate disabled parking places, and the crackdown is part of its broader public‑space management policy.
