In late July 2026 Argentine authorities began a series of local actions to clear illegally occupied parking spaces. A week later, the crackdown expanded to the capital. Buenos Aires city auditors identified and removed 471 illegal disabled‑parking spots, including dozens in the Palermo district. Mayor Jorge Macri set a 20‑day deadline for users of unauthorized or expired permits to regularise their status online or by email; after the deadline, fines, licence suspensions and sign removals were imposed, and fraud cases were referred to prosecutors. The city maintains about 4,000 legitimate disabled spaces, and the operation is part of a broader public‑space management policy.
