Argentina teachers launch multiple strikes across provinces

Multiple teacher strikes and labor disputes are impacting educational services across various regions in Argentina.

In Tierra del Fuego, the SUTEF union has ratified an indefinite strike following failed negotiations with the provincial government. While the government proposed increasing certain allowances and implementing a pedagogical recovery plan, the union rejected the offer as insufficient to restore purchasing power. Union leaders are demanding salary improvements and the immediate return of funds previously deducted due to strike actions.

In the Province of Buenos Aires, the SUTEBA Multicolor faction has announced a 48-hour period of protest, including a 24-hour strike and marches in La Plata. Their demands include a higher starting salary, the reopening of collective bargaining, and the debt forgiveness of educators by Banco Provincia. The provincial government does not recognize the legal standing of these specific strikes, often treating absences as unjustified.

Additionally, faculty members at the National University of Rosario (UNR) have announced a 48-hour strike to pressure the national government to implement the university financing law and address delays in the transfer of operational funds and salary updates.
