Buenos Aires utility disruptions affect water and gas services

Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos (AySA) began a scheduled inspection of the underground water conduit between Saavedra and Morón on the night of 2 July 2026. The operation, part of its 2026 River Inspection Programme, required temporary shutdowns of pumping stations in Tres de Febrero, Morón, Ituzaingó, Merlo, Hurlingham and parts of La Matanza. Residents were warned of possible interruptions in water supply until the early afternoon of 3 July and were asked to use water responsibly.

On the same day, a retro‑excavator rupturing a high‑pressure gas pipe near the Dellepiane highway caused a gas leak. City fire crews, police and MetroGAS teams sealed the breach and reduced pipe pressure. Traffic toward the city centre was halted, creating major congestion, but no injuries were reported.
