Buffalo Bills coach honors Ed Oliver after Week 1 win
Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady honored defensive tackle Ed Oliver following the team’s 36-31 Week 1 victory over the Houston Texans. Brady awarded Oliver a game ball, noting the player's resilience after the tragic loss of his two-year-old son in an accidental drowning near Houston.
Despite the personal tragedy, Oliver played in his hometown, recording five tackles and a fumble recovery. Brady expressed deep empathy for Oliver, stating, “I can’t fathom what he’s going through,” and emphasized that Oliver’s presence on the field meant a great deal to his teammates.
Reflecting on the game, Brady noted that while the team showed adaptability and strong defensive adjustments after halftime, there are areas for improvement. He specifically highlighted the need to reduce penalties across all three phases of the game as the Bills prepare for their upcoming home opener against the Detroit Lions.
