Bukova kosa coal mine exploitation continues despite official ban

Reports from the Center for Environmental Issues indicate that coal exploitation is continuing at the Bukova kosa mine near Prijedor, despite official prohibitions by competent authorities.

Dragan Ostić of the Center stated that field reports confirm machinery remains active and operational on-site. This ongoing activity occurs despite an inspectorate ban, raising concerns regarding the potential criminal liability of those involved and the contamination of drinking water sources. Ostić criticized the negligence of institutions, suggesting a pattern where investors begin operations at sites like Medina, Bistrica, and Bukova kosa without obtaining all necessary environmental permits.
