Bulgaria and Turkey discuss energy and transport connectivity

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev met with Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkerim Uraloğlu to discuss enhancing connectivity between Bulgaria and Turkey. The discussions focused on strengthening regional stability, economic exchange, and investment opportunities across land, air, and rail transport, as well as digital technologies and energy.

A key topic was the adaptation of the agreement between Bulgargaz and BOTAŞ to current market conditions, which has renewed interest in natural gas supplies via this route. Both nations expressed mutual interest in collaborating on green energy corridors and natural gas transit routes to Europe.

Regarding infrastructure, the meeting highlighted the importance of the Odrin - Lesovo - Elhovo - Yambol railway line. This new 71 km route is intended to serve as an alternative to the heavily congested Kapitan Andreevo - Kapıkule border crossing.
