Bulgaria approves heating assistance for over 240,000 citizens

Over 242,000 citizens and families in Bulgaria have been approved for targeted heating assistance for the upcoming 2026/2027 winter season. Applications nationwide are approaching 330,000, with projections suggesting approximately 340,000 households may receive support.

The total financial assistance is set at 321.95 euros, an increase of nearly 11 euros compared to the previous year. The funds are distributed in two installments: a first tranche of 128.78 euros covering November and December, and a second tranche of 193.17 euros to be paid by the end of January 2027.

Eligibility is restricted to individuals and families whose average monthly income for the preceding six months falls at or below a specific differentiated threshold. Requirements include being registered with a labor office for at least three months for unemployed persons of working age. Students residing in dormitories are excluded from the program.
