Bulgaria faces thunderstorms and heavy rain on July 13 with yellow warning for Dobrich and Varna

On Monday, 13 July, western Bulgaria will enjoy mostly sunny skies while eastern and north‑eastern regions experience rapidly developing thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail and strong north‑west winds. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow warning for significant rainfall in the provinces of Dobrich and Varna.

Temperatures will range between 26 °C and 31 °C across the country, with Sofia near 26 °C. Coastal areas will see 24 °C‑28 °C, and sea‑water temperatures will be 21 °C‑25 °C. Winds will be moderate to strong from the north‑west, with gusts that may feel cooler.

Rainfall and lightning are expected to be most intense in the north‑eastern zone and in mountainous areas, with short‑duration downpours and possible gusty conditions. By evening the cloud cover is forecast to clear over most of the country. A calmer pattern is expected from Tuesday onward, with temperatures rising toward 30 °C‑35 °C later in the week.
