Bulgaria faces heat wave with temperatures up to 41 °C

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) forecasts a significant heat wave across Bulgaria over the coming days. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 35 °C in most regions, climbing to 40‑41 °C in the interior and southern parts, while Sofia is projected to see highs of around 30‑35 °C.

Weather will remain mostly sunny, with occasional short‑lived thunderstorms and brief showers in the north‑west and mountain areas. Winds will shift from south‑west to north‑west, with stronger gusts in coastal zones. Sea‑surface temperatures along the Black Sea will stay between 22 °C and 25 °C, and sea‑state will be light (1‑3 bela). The forecast also notes a slight drop in atmospheric pressure toward average monthly values.

These conditions are expected to affect tourism on the Black Sea coast, outdoor activities in the mountains, and public health, prompting advisories for heat‑related precautions.
