Bulgaria faces high fire risk amid unseasonably warm weather
An extensive and stable anticyclone is bringing unseasonably warm weather to Bulgaria, with temperatures expected to reach between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius during the latter half of the week. The sunny and calm conditions are expected to persist from Monday through Thursday.
This period carries an extremely high risk of wildfires across the country due to prolonged drought and high seasonal temperatures, which could lead to rapidly spreading fires that are difficult to control.
The dry spell is forecasted to break around October 10 with the arrival of a cold atmospheric front. Short, local, and potentially intense rainfall is expected on Friday and Saturday. A noticeable cooling is anticipated around mid-October, with daytime temperatures dropping to between 12 and 17 degrees and morning temperatures potentially falling below 5 degrees in some areas, creating conditions for frost.
