Bulgaria braced for cold front, heavy rain and cooler temps

A cold front moving in from the west‑northwest is set to lower temperatures across Bulgaria on July 24‑25. Maximum daytime temperatures are forecast to range from 18‑20 °C in western regions to 26‑28 °C in the east, with Sofia expecting around 19 °C.

Meteorologists warn of intense, short‑duration rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail, especially in the Ludogorie area, West Bulgaria, the Western Rhodopes and the Central Balkan mountains. Winds will shift to a north‑northwest to north‑northeast direction, reaching moderate to strong speeds in exposed areas.

Along the Black Sea coast, cloud cover will become more broken, turning into significant rain bands after midday, particularly on the northern shoreline. Sea temperatures will stay around 24‑26 °C, with low sea states (1‑2 on the Beaufort scale). The forecast includes brief snowfall on the highest peaks of the mountain ranges.
