Bulgaria weather warnings issued for heavy rain and storms
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued yellow weather warnings across several regions of Bulgaria due to expected intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential hail.
Warnings for heavy rain and storms cover multiple areas, including Burgas, Varna, Shumen, Vidin, Montana, Sofia region, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, and Vratsa. In the Rila-Rhodope and Stara Planina mountain regions, rainfall is expected to be particularly significant and intense.
A cold air mass from the west-northwest is moving into the country, leading to a slight drop in temperatures. While much of the country will see temperatures between 29°C and 34°C, the Black Sea coast and northeastern regions may experience cooler conditions between 27°C and 29°C. The coastal areas are expected to remain relatively sunny with minimal rainfall, though some convective clouds and brief showers may develop.
Meteorologists advise caution regarding local flooding, reduced visibility for drivers, and the risk of lightning in mountainous areas during the afternoon.
