Bulgaria Ministry of Health seeks new board for Vratsa hospital

The Bulgarian Ministry of Health has withdrawn its confidence from the current Board of Directors of the MBAL ‘Hristo Botev’ hospital in Vratsa. The Ministry is insisting on a complete change of leadership, proposing Dr. Nikolay Plamenov, Dr. Zdravko Angelov, and Marina Mincheva to replace Keti Tsenova, Plamen Dimitrov, and Neli Nesheva.

A scheduled general meeting of shareholders failed to take place due to a lack of quorum, as the state representative, current management, and most municipal shareholders did not attend. Despite threats of protests and attempts to block the transition, the Ministry maintains its position.

The new nominees are currently in Sofia to discuss the Ministry’s stabilization strategy for the hospital and to review findings regarding negative management practices within the institution. The procedure is expected to resume at an emergency meeting scheduled for November 12, when the new team is slated to officially take over management.
