Bulgaria national team searches for new head coach

The Bulgarian Football Union is searching for a new head coach for the national football team following the resignation of Aleksandar Dimitrov. Several candidates have emerged during the selection process.

Romanian coach Edward Iordănescu is considered a leading candidate. Iordănescu, who recently led Romania to the Euro 2024 knockout stages, previously managed CSKA Sofia in 2016. He is currently a free agent after leaving Legia Warsaw.

Serbian coach Aleksandar Janković is another prominent option. Janković has extensive experience, including stints with Red Star Belgrade and various levels of the Chinese national team. He has previously had professional connections within Bulgarian football.

Other names mentioned in discussions include Brazilian coach Sylvinho, though reports suggest his financial requirements may be too high. If a permanent appointment is not reached quickly, Todor Yanchev, the current U21 coach, may serve in an interim capacity for upcoming matches against Iceland and Estonia.
