Bulgaria pledges support for Montenegro’s EU accession

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova has reaffirmed Bulgaria’s support for Montenegro’s accession to the European Union. During the ‘EU Meets the Balkans’ forum held in Sofia, Petrova met with Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Philip Ivanovic to discuss economic cooperation and regional integration.

Petrova emphasized that Montenegro’s European integration is vital for the entire region’s prospects. She advocated for a predictable EU enlargement process based on tangible results and expressed Bulgaria’s readiness to share its expertise to assist the process. Additionally, the two sides discussed improving bilateral connectivity, including the potential launch of a direct air link between Sofia and Podgorica.
