Bulgaria police find dangerous tires on half of heavy trucks on Trakia highway

A special traffic police operation by OДМВР‑Sliven on the Trakia highway (km 265) inspected heavy trucks over 12 tonnes. Within the first hour, six vehicles were checked and three trailers were found with severely unsafe tyres – tread separation, missing pieces and even the rim exposed. Commissioner Dimitar Kikъov said, "До момента сме проверили шест автомобила, като при три от тях ремаркетата са с изключително опасни гуми – с разлепен протектор, липсващи части и дори видима основа на гумата." The checks, complemented by drone surveillance, also monitored risky manoeuvres such as illegal overtaking. Police warned that vehicles with such technical violations will be stopped until the defects are remedied. The operation continues to address the trend of drivers focusing on tractor units while neglecting trailer safety.
